Ok i know that the fever of screaming girls at their Chelsea/Aston Villa/Blackburn Rovers idols and not forgetting the football fanatic guys shouting or chanting for their role models has probably subside by now. But allow me to refresh you out there for this mega 2011 Barclay Asia Trophy Cup that create waves of supporters from none other than a metropolitan city called HONG KONG. Well, thanks to TUNE TALK as I was one of the chosen winners from their facebook slogan contest. Its time for some revisit to this city.
Just 2 days before 27th July 2011 (where the first match will be held), I received a call from the P-I-C (Yuva) of TUNETALK that i've won. I was excited but then i realized my passport validity are less than 6 months that night itself..Gulp!!. To cut the story short, just put it as i managed to renew my passport in the nick of time before the time strike 4pm at the immigration office. phew! Got my tickets from AirAsia ticketing office at KLSentral earlier. With short notice and very little time, my travelling partner, Grace managed to did some research on what to do list once we reach there..
HELLO HONG KONG! The biggest airplane i have ever seen..with 800 seats and its double deck! |
HONG KONG airport |
So upon touched down, we quickly get our luggage and I am so excited to discover Hong Kong again. The first time when i was here it was year 2007, but I only managed to be here for like less than 12 hours. hehe..dont ask! Anyway this trip going to be 5 days so it was something I would not miss to discover as many things as possible.

Taxi stand |
Since it was almost 12 of us (the winners/bloggers and TuneTALK rep (Biresh) we decided to take taxi separately as it is much cheaper and hassle-free compare to take by train /bus. Took us about 30 minutes to reach our destination which was KungFu PANDA Hotel. Met the cool CEO of TUNETALK, Mr Jason Lo, his lovely wife and adorable kids. A brief introduction and after 20 minutes, we finally managed to check in. We were given the VIP tickets for the Barclay Asia Trophy for tonight matches between Aston Villa+BlackBurn Rovers and Kitchee and Chelsea.
Finally we arrived in a land full of kungfu pandas..it is after all, the cute PANDA HOTEL! |
Thank you TUNE TALK for these wonderful opportunity..You rocks! |
Can somebody tell me why I cant bring back these cute PANDAs??? |
After chucked in our bags and freshen up, we are ready to explore..But first, we had our lunch because I was so hungry! The room was ok, I think they gave us the smoking room but it is quite spacious since Hong Kong are famous for tiny and limited space rooms. So this is a great crib for the next 5 days. SWEETT!!!
The room, clean bathroom, with tv, and spacious space.I couldn't ask for more. :) |

Panda Hotel located at Tsuen Wan street. MTR in HK makes our life so much at ease |
After a plain lunch of Portuguese rice by the street, we head to the nearest MTR station which was about close to 20 minutes walk, well we walked the wrong path and ended up at the last station (Tsuen Wan). But we figured out that it is closer to Tai Wo hau station close to 10 minutes walk only on the next day..hehehe
MTR Station are clean |
Then we head down to Times Square for some sight seeing and walk around Mong Kok before heading our way to Hong Kong stadium which was almost 15 minutes walk from the nearest MTR station.
Saw it, HONG KONG stadium ..here we come! |
A signature building of Charity organization in HK |
Double deck bus, trams and high rise building are the norm here |
So as we get closer to the stadium, we could hear the cheering crowd and some Chelsea fans chanting their theme song. And after much walking, we finally saw the glimpse of the much talk about and the only stadium in Hong Kong- The Hong Kong Stadium.
colourful |
queuing for their tickets |
Our VIP entrance .ehehe..
It was hot and humid! but that doesnt stop the crowd from watching their favorite players on the run |
Come and get it..its complimentary! |
The players |
Pardon my lack of knowledge in the football field, but I started to enjoy it as the cheering crowd really makes the whole atmosphere to a new horizon of excitement and thrilling. So Aston Villa won by 1-0 over Blackburn Rovers
Where is the ball? |
As you can see the VIP seats are pretty empty. Not until before the Chelsea and Kitchee match..it was full house! |
See i told ya! |
Kitchee (China local team) lost to Chelsea, the final score was 4-0. I will try to upload some videos later as the line are pretty slow at this moment.
After that we left early to witness the colourful laser show or also known as Symphony of Lights along the Avenue of Stars. All are basically within walking distance from the nearest MTR. You just need to get used to the colours and last station as guidance.
The Symphony of Lights at Avenue of Stars. the laser show last for like maybe 5 minutes only. But it was a breathtaking view at night |
Then we head to Mongkok street. |
Some piece of art there |
And to LADIES MARKET for some shopping...hehehe |
So many things to see |
We took our dinner at one of the small restaurants over there. Didn't have much problem for me even though i dont take pork or beef as the variety of food are endless. I guessed it was one of the BEST stirred prawn with broccoli I've ever had in my entire life..LOL..the prawn was fresh and the broccoli cook to its perfection that you could feel the flavor of the green with plain sauce on every bites.
Let's eat |
Yummy!!! |
Typical dine in place at HK..tiny tables, tiny chairs and tiny space. but the portion are quite big |
The iced lemon tea was also nice..with lots of lemon slices in it |
Street food |
Finally after dinner and some sight seeing, we decided to head to our hotel as the last train will be at 1130pm. Hong Kong is kinda safe to me at certain area, language are a bit hard if you don't speak or at least understand Cantonese. English are not so mainly used unless in the main city. But overall, it was really a good experience being in the football pitch at a different country and watching the match from a VIP seat row was also ignite the thrill. And this is only the first day! Wanna know where we are up to in HK on the following day? Be sure to watch out this space..it's going to be fun!
Thank you TUNE TALK for this great opportunity. Check out their website/facebook page as more line up coming up for you to seize it.
