Each time the month of August
arrives; little did I know that it has always left a huge impact in my memory
banks. When I was in my primary schools, the teachers will introduce to us few
Merdeka campaign which include displaying our Malaysian flags, creating posters
about Merdeka Day and a lot of Merdeka theme’s competition like colouring,
storytelling, essay, choir, logo, poster designing etc. Because of the hype
that the teachers created among us, our anticipation was filled with passion
and enthusiasm. Despite the interesting campaign and prizes, we were more drawn
into stories like how our soldiers fought for independence and the undying love
they have for our country. Though I’ve travelled quite a bit, but till today I
still love my country and I’m still feel Malaysia is my home.
This year mark the 57th
year of us celebrating Merdeka Day..wow! 57th year since 31 August 1957. What a
coincidence eh? So, in conjunction with the coming Merdeka celebration, Celcom
Axiata has taken the initiative to create similar awareness which include running
a Celcom ESCAPE Merdeka Video contest with the theme “Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah
Cinta” with a total whopping of RM157,000 cash prizes in stake!
The “Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah
Cinta” (translate to English as -This is the birth of Love) is a special
rendition from a very talented local musician, Imran Fadzil Ishak or
affectionately known as Narmi. The verse is actually a part of the hit single
“Warisan”, originally sung by the late Dato’ Sudirman Hj Arshad. You can check
the mellow yet rich interpretation song of displaying devotion and patriotism to

Narmi decided to choose the cover
“Warisan” as the first line of the song “Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta” became
his inspiration to share his love for this country. If you listen carefully to
this song, it somehow illustrates the many values of love and passion for the
country, people and even memories. Personally, I have some rough ideas to
create a video for this contest as I have memorable moments and memories to
share my love towards Malaysia. Simply can’t wait to kick start my storyboard. I
will upload my video by 30 August 2014, just right before our independence day.

Submission is easy. Firstly,
register your particulars, then download the “Warisan” song to be incorporated
in your video. Upload your .MOV video at Youtube and key in the link into the
online registration form. Alternatively, you may also submit your DVD of the
video in AVI, MP4 or H.264 format to Level 21, Menara Celcom, 82 Jalan Raja
Muda Abdul Aziz, 50300 Kuala Lumpur. Closing date of video submission is on 9
September 2014.
Be creative, Be Inspired and Be
amazed!. Afterall, Celcom ESCAPE also aims to reach out to all Malaysians and
offer them an opportunity to share their passion and love for the country
creatively. It could be some thoughts or emotions about their loved ones, scenarios,
beliefs or even places that depicts unforgettable reminisces. Show them your
skills and your own interpretation of what “Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta”
means. It could be an epic love story or heroic deed that you have experienced,
even the unpredictable struggles that you have gone through and how you found
love to survive, changing someone’s else life or vice versa. Don’t let your
